Not To Be at Applebee's

We met some friends for fellowship at the Applebee's restaurant at 7650 City Live Ave in Philly. The evening started out fine. The food and conversation were excellent. Then it came time to pay the bill. This wasn't a problem. Both couples had agreed to split the bill, which is usually how the Browns handle the bill when dining out with others. Our friends had a $25 gift card, so I instructed the waiter to use the gift card and pay the remaining balance using my credit card. The waiter left us, supposedly having understood the instructions I had just provided. Well, the waiter returned with a credit card slip that required my signature, I signed the credit card slip. The other couple wanted to pay the tip, so we agreed. However, my friend noticed the amount charged to my credit card was too high. The original bill did not have enough money taken off by the gift card. We asked for the waiter and inquired as to why the bill was still high after usage of the gift card. The waiter explained that he only applied the gift card toward one entree in the amount of $10.88. (Mind you, the waiter had not returned with the gift card and a slip indicating the remaining balance.) We explained to the waiter that we wanted the entire gift card amount applied to the bill. He claimed he thought only a portion of the gift card was to be applied to the bill, that there was a misunderstanding. He understood enough to hold on to that gift card! He went to call for the manager. The manager arrived and we explained the situation. The manager made the necessary adjustments and credits. As you can imagine, our friends did not leave a tip and rightly so. That was the first time my wife and I experienced that sort of thing at an eating establishment. Needless to say, we will no longer be dining at that eating establishment; and I do not recommend that anyone else eat there either.

The moral of the story kids is don't trust anyone when it comes to your money. Pay attention to your bill.
